North East Firms urged to sign up to Supply2Gov
Fri 13th Feb 2009, 10:32am
The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (DBERR) urge firms in the North East to sign up to Supply2.gov.uk website.
Supply2 Gov provides a database of lower value government contracts (typically below £100,000) and is managed by BIP Solutions Ltd. Examples of public sector buyers advertising on the site include local government, health, education, housing associations, emergency services and the Olympic Delivery Authority. Nick Brown, Minister for the North East, said: “ Every year the government spends many billions of pounds on public sector contracts. It is important that we help small and medium sixed firms to take advantage of the opportunities these contracts provide. In the current economic climate this is more important than ever. The supply2.gov.uk website is a crucial tool for this.”
The Buy North East campaign is in support to the principle of Supply2 Gov but believes that businesses should be able to access information on contract opportunities free of charge in more than one specified location.
To encourage more companies to register with the site and to aid understanding of the public sector market there will be a series of events taking place across the country this Spring. The event “ Develop your tendering Skills” will take place on 5 May at the Thistle Hotel, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
There will be a charge of £120 per attendee for this event. NECC via the BUY NE campaign have written to Supply2 Gov to request that the cost for this event be waived in the interest of encouraging as many SME’s as possible to attend. The event will include information on how to use the Supply2.gov.uk website, how to put together an effective tender proposal and have your procurement related questions answered by a leading expert. To register for the event visit the Supply2 Gov website.
